OH, WOW! I was KidNapPed!

In the nearly wee hours of yesterday, I was kidnapped by a determined-to-have-fun Elf named Judy.  Truth be known, I was expecting to be kidnapped as she had checked with me and my calendar the day before, telling me we were going “somewhere” and to “bring your camera and wear comfortable shoes.”

After showing Judy my vacation slideshow, (post to follow someday), and packing some nourishment (goldfish pretzels and water)… off we went.  I had no idea where, but I had worked around detectives long enough to know it had to do with the major profusion of wildflowers (why else would I need the camera?). Judy drove with determination and a little wicked grin to a Perko’s coffee shop in a place called Wasco (this is real).  We ate like some kind of Royal English women of the Renaissance era.  I won’t go into detail, but it did involve syrup and pork.

After waddling out to her car, we headed out to the open road, wondering where we would have lunch, JK, LOL!  It wasn’t long until the seriousness of my addiction to natural beauty hit me as we came upon the top of a ridge and I said we had to stop.  I got out of the car and took my first shot and was lost in that particular moment for the rest of the day.

Instantly and insanely I was sucked deep into the majesty of the smallest, most delicate floral displays. I had brought hubby’s Canon EOS 20D with its fine telephoto lens, only to find that I had not brought the CF card;  bummer!  What I did not know was that his camera has no internal memory like my little Kodak Easy Share does (yea, Kodak!).  I had thought to bring my camera (probably because I am so astutely clairvoyant).  So, all day I took double photos, one of just about every shot with both cameras (except for the shot of the darling tadpoles that survived Judy’s wild river crossing in her Mercury).

Here are a couple shots.  I uploaded about 45 (out of 160) photos on Flicker if you are a nature lover and if you want to see what the real California is all about.

Oh, we had cowboy hamburgers at a quaint place in Pinefield and dinner at Cold Stone…. And Judy looked absolutely fetching in her pink babydoll shirt.  Yeah, it was a perfect day.

  1. Jen, these are gorgeous! I’m going to skiddaddle over to Flickr asap! Thanks for sharing! :)

  2. Doesn’t matter which camera you use. The first image is absolutely stunning. I wish I had such sites to see.

  3. These pictures are incredible as are ALL of your pictures. Spring is trying to poke through here…but then three days last week, IT SNOWED! It didn’t stick, but still, it snowed like the dickens for hours each day. I think the flowers and trees are confused.

  4. Jen all the pictures are absolutely gorgeous. I almost felt like I was there with you guys (I wish!). I would absolutely love to visit there. Our weather here in Vancouver is exactly as Holley described…*Sigh.*

  5. P.s: Thank you so much sharing these! Hugs :)

  6. Hi, my name is Jenny, and I’m a photohaulic! Thank you for the positive reinforcement.. I love trying to take photos, and actually being there even more. I wish I could swoop all of you up and take you to this lovely area. It doesn’t last long…as soon as our Central Valley heat hits, it’s over…. ’till next year. Feel the love, jen
